Teacher’s Resource Guide to Sir Donald Bradman

The Bradman Foundation realise that a familiarity with the subject area is a key factor for many teachers when choosing the subjects they use to teach a unit of work. As such, we have developed a list of DVDs, websites, publications and a glossary of terms that will assist teachers to confidently develop a unit of work that traces the life and times of Sir Donald Bradman AC as a key example of the topic area.

Rather than a comprehensive list of resources it is a list of introductory texts that are suitable for use by teachers and students across all stages of the curriculum.

Curriculum Links and Structured Activities

The following documents feature the K- 6 and 7-12 curriculum links identified in current museum exhibitions.

» K-6 Curriculum Links 2011

» 7-12 Curriculum Links 2011

The following curriculum links have been developed into structured activities. They come with a teacher’s guide that outlines the COGS unit or inquiry questions and the outcomes activities will satisfy. As well as suggested preparation and post excursion consolidation activities.

» HSIE Stage 3 Activities – Teacher’s Guide

» HSIE Stage 4 Activities – Teacher’s Guide

» HSIE Stage 5 Activities – Teacher’s Guide

Other identified links have been presented for teachers wanting to use a visit to The International Cricket Hall of Fame in a less direct manner.  Although material has not been developed for these links, the Assistant Curator will work with any teacher to tailor a visit that meets the needs of their students.

For example in the past our guides have worked with Stage 1 students learning about artifacts, in ‘Families Past and Present’, in which students had the opportunity to handle, compare and discuss old and new cricket artifacts before entering the Museum to view similar items.

Future Curriculum Links

The International Cricket Hall of Fame continues to develop with three reconfigured exhibitions and four new exhibitions being completed throughout 2012.
